Why join Alpha Omicron Pi?
"Membership within Alpha Omicron Pi offers women an exceptional experience through a myriad of opportunities for personal and professional development and leadership and learning experiences. AOII offers four years of educational development that are tailored to our women, helping our members to be the best that they can be.” -AOII Headquarters
SISTERHOOD
The four founders of Alpha Omicron Pi considered each new member a founder of the Fraternity. Each new sister carries on the traditions of our sisterhood and continues to promote positive growth on campus and in the surrounding community.
PHILANTRHOPY & COMMUNITY SERVICE
As a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, every woman experiences tremendous personal growth because she actively gives back to her community. Each AOII chapter hosts various philanthropy events, which allows AOII members to help those in need. Alphas are also very active in their communities through volunteer work. Whether its participating in monthly Second Saturday Service events or volunteering on their own time, many AOIIs are continuously giving back to their communities. Being a part of a sisterhood that values philanthropy and having lots of sisters who inspire us to help those in need is truly remarkable.
SCHOLARSHIP
Academics are very important in Alpha Omicron Pi. Our sisters continuously encourage one another to excel academically and always assist each other with their academics. Each AOII chapter has educational programs to promote academic success, provide assistance and turtoring for sisters, and help foster important scholastic skills (e.g. like study habits).
OPPORTUNITIES
Alpha Omicron Pi provides all of its members with countless opportunities, including some that might not be easily recognizable at first. While a woman is a collegiate member, she can run for officer positions and serve on a committee in her AOII chapter. An AOII will gain all sorts of practical leadership skills that will not only assist her while she is in college but will also help her after she graduates. From learning how to communicate efficiently with various types of people to acquiring vital organization skills to understanding how to work and respond to certain situations, a woman holding a leadership in AOII will learn many valuable lessons and obtain various skills.
Even if a woman does not hold a specific leadership position in AOII, she will garner lots of valuable skills and information by participating in our educational programs and assisting the chapter in numerous ways (e.g. hosting on- and off-campus events, volunteering in the community, etc.). Serving AOII does not have to end after college is over. After graduation, a woman can apply to be a chapter advisor or member of an AAC; a woman can even apply to work at headquarters.
Whether or not a woman chooses to hold a position within Alpha Omicron Pi as a collegiate member or alumna, she will learn important leadership and interpersonal skills during undergraduate school that will assist her in whatever path she takes after graduation.
